5.3.7-5.3.9 Premoves, sliding delay & orientation

5.3.7 Premoves#

A premove prepares one move while waiting for your opponent, in online or AI play.

  1. Enable Premoves in the app’s Game Settings.
  2. Make your intended move before the opponent’s move has been received.
  3. If it is still legal after their move arrives, it executes automatically.
  • Return the piece before their move arrives to cancel the premove.
  • You cannot queue several moves.
  • Captures, en passant, castling and promotions are supported.
  • The app setting controls premoves made on the physical board, even if the external platform has different premove preferences.

Changing the option previews a premove from b1 to c3.

5.3.8 Sliding move delay#

Sliding Move Delay controls how long the board waits before registering a move. A piece held over an intermediate square may otherwise be recorded there.

Your movement style Suggested adjustment
Slow sliding Use a longer delay to reduce intermediate-square detection.
Quick moves or lifting and placing A shorter delay may feel more responsive.

Available levels: Very Short, Moderate, Normal, Long and Very Long. Adjust the delay to suit how you move pieces.

5.3.9 Flexible starting side#

  • Enabled (default): start from either board orientation, based on how you arrange the pieces.
  • Disabled: the app requires white pieces on ranks 1 and 2 in its standard orientation. An incorrect starting position must be corrected before play.

The app records white as playing from ranks 1 and 2 in either case, so move notation and PGN records remain correctly oriented.
