iChessOne is a European hardware company building a patent-pending, tournament-size electronic chessboard born from a genuine passion for both chess and engineering – combining the feel of classical play with the possibilities of modern electronics.

Built by chess players, designed for natural play

From the beginning, our goal was clear: bring back the real experience of playing on a wooden chessboard without giving up the convenience of the digital world. We wanted to create a full-size foldable electronic chessboard that feels timeless, is intuitive to use, and lets players move naturally – just as they would on a traditional non-electronic board, without having to learn a new way of playing.

iChessOne was not built as a gadget. It was built as a serious tool for play, training and analysis. Making a foldable wooden board while preserving the functionality, reliability and feel serious players expect required months of prototyping, testing and engineering.

Made to go with you

We wanted to create a full-size foldable electronic chessboard that feels timeless, packs easily, and fits naturally into the lifestyle of modern chess players – whether at home, in a club, at school, in a café, in the park, or at your destination when travelling, including holidays and longer stays away from home.

Built in an environment of innovation

Our headquarters, R&D and assembly are based in Gdynia, Poland, at the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park – a dynamic space for innovative technology companies. Working in that environment, and in collaboration with other ambitious teams around us, helps us keep improving both the product and the way we build it.

Craftsmanship and materials

The foldable wooden cases are carefully made in Poland by craftsmen with over 30 years of experience in producing folding chessboards. They are crafted from high-quality mahogany, beech and maple, with a focus on durability, timeless design and everyday usability.

The chess pieces are also handcrafted: the Timeless pieces are made in Poland, while the Classic Staunton 3.75" pieces are handcrafted in India.

Validated by the market

Our product and vision have already been validated by the market. We successfully completed our Kickstarter and Indiegogo campaigns, delivered the promised boards, and shipped orders to customers around the world. We were also recognized as the winner of Gdyński Biznesplan 2022, Gdynia’s business-plan competition for new ventures.

Shaped by the community

Just as important, iChessOne continues to evolve with its users. We listen closely to feedback from both our earliest supporters and new customers, and whenever possible, that feedback shapes our development roadmap. For example, the first version did not include a battery – we added it because users asked for it. We believe in transparency, long-term support and fair access to improvements, which is why the app is free and regular firmware and app updates are available to all users, including those who bought their boards early.

We build for long-term use, with durable construction, high-quality materials and thoughtful, environmentally conscious design choices wherever possible. Our focus is not on disposable electronics, but on creating a product that stays useful, relevant and beautiful for years.

iChessOne is built to meet the required safety and compliance standards for international markets, including RED (CE), FCC and RCM requirements.
